OK folks, here's a brand new offering of the worlds finest euclase from a nearly impossible to obtain locality, the Mwami (Miami) Mining District near Karoi, Zimbabwe. A little history is in order. Zimbabwe is a central African country that was formerly known as Rhodesia (actually, Zimbabwe incorporates the northern half of Rhodesia and Zambia the southern half). Zimbabwe was known as the bread basket of Africa for many years due to the agricultural wealth of the country, and also had a vibrant mining industry. In recent years, government change and corrupt politicians have caused serious harm to the country and it is safe to say that it is now an unpredictable and dangerous country both for inhabitants and visitors. Due to these recent problems, acquiring minerals from this area is nearly impossible.

Euclase was named after the Greek Euklastos, which means "to break well". It is fragile and has a tendency to chip, making high quality crystalline specimens very difficult to obtain. Euclase is a very rare mineral, and is used as a gemstone. It is similar to beryl in that it is a silicate containing beryllium and aluminum, but hydrogen is also present. It crystallizes in the monoclinic system, with crystals being prismatic in habit, striated vertically, and terminated by acute pyramids.

I'm not a metaphysical expert by any means, but for those who are, I did a bit of research on the internet and found that euclase stimulates happiness in one's life, inspires pride, enhances communication skills, stimulates crown, heart and throat chakras, is beneficial for clarity, awakens creative forces, aligns energy fields, provides relief from aches, arthritis, muscle tension, cramps, inflammation, swelling and spasms, and can be used as an anti-bacterial and antiseptic. It is associated with the planet uranus.

Electric blue euclase from this locality is widely recognized as by far the best the world has to offer. Good crystalline specimens go for hundreds and thousands of dollars, and are extremely difficult to find on the market. I urge you to do an internet search and see what you can find. I guarantee you will not find a better price for specimens from this location anywhere else on the internet. The color of the crystals range from clear to the most vibrant electric blue that is found in this species anywhere on the planet, and often crystals will have clear edges and electric blue centers. The Mwami Mine is also known as the Miami mine (local spelling and pronunciation I think). It was in operation from the 1950's through the 1980's. These specimens come from this area, not specifically from this mine since it is now closed, and was collected by locals in the area. Because these guys are so darned rare and difficult to find, its really hard for me to place an accurate price on them! But be sure you won't find a better price anywhere in cyberspace. We have been mineral dealers for over 14 years now, and up until now we have never been able to acquire these specimens at all.
